Robert Louis Stevenson

Robert Louis Stevenson once entered into his diary, as if he was recording something amazing, "I have been to Church today, and am not depressed."

You'll find a very warm welcome at Western Way Chapel and you will leave uplifted, maybe even inspired!

Easter Report

On Good Friday Newent and Area Churches did their Walk of Witness through the town. Firstly gathering for coffee and hot cross buns at the Roman Catholic Church on Ross Road. They then followed a large wooden cross being carried in front of the procession. At Glebe Chapel, the Health Centre, the United Reformed Church, the Market Square, and then St. Mary's Church they stopped. At each stopping place a song was sung, a reading from Scripture, prayer, and a reflection was given.

On Easter Day there was a Sunrise Service on May Hill, also organised by Newent and Area Churches. About fifty people gathered on top of the hill at 6am to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. During their time together an Easter firework blazed off into the sky. At the end of the service yellow helium balloons were released as the words Christ is risen, He is risen indeed were said. Then everyone shared the words of the Grace together, after which Easter eggs were shared.
