After the Share Lunch at the chapel on Thursday February 20th our speaker was Andrew Tyrell. He gave a very interesting talk on the Gideons. They take Bibles to many places and leave them for people to read. Andrew's visual presentation included two amazing testimonies of people who had been really helped when reading the Bible that had been distributed by the Gideons. Their lives had been changed and they became believers. To listen to or download Andrew's talk visit our Messages webpage on the western Way Chapel main website.
The Pilgrim group, ages 7 to 11 have not met this week and will not meet next week because of half term. The next sessions begin on Monday March 3rd at 6.30 when we will be having a Pancake Party. It will be great fun and visitors are always welcome to come and see what we do.

It's been 10 years since Mike Curtis along with small dedicated team of volunteers founded Gloucester City Mission and last Thursday, Mike along with two helpers Paul and Mary, came to talk about their work with the Street People of Gloucester who they give out hot food and drinks, soap, socks etc to, and share the love of Jesus with.
Mike's presentation included many pictures taken over the course of last year but those that stuck in my mind were of the Carol Service and meal at Park Street Mission held just before Christmas, each street person received a hamper of provisions, gloves, scarves, socks and over 160 hampers were given away.
A recent development for the Mission are Mikes' visits to Primary and Secondary schools in the area when he highlights the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse, Mike has also produced a leaflet to help parents and relatives understand the street jargon and side effects of these substances. Mike asked how we could all help the work Gloucester City Mission does - his answer to us was Pray, Pray and Pray.

On Monday evenings during term time, children come to the Pilgrim group. We meet at 6.30 and have a group game to start off the evening. Then there is the choice of doing computer games, snooker, table tennis or other activities. We follow that with a short talk by one of the leaders. Finally refreshments are served, and then it is time to go home at 7.45. Visitors and new members are always welcome aged 7 upwards.
